Colonial Schools: Early Education Meets Lifelong Experience
Development and Dedication
The Colonial Schools offers a unique
Early Childhood Education program
for children three to seven years old, focusing on total growth and dedicated to the development and enrichment of each child – intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally – while incorporating the concepts of intergenerational involvement.
Childhood learning should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploration and discovery. At the Westover Preparatory School preschool and the Preparatory School on the Square kindergarten, our educational programs have been carefully designed to include intergenerational interaction while nurturing and encouraging creativity, learning and openness.
Innovative and Intelligent
For more than 20 years, the Colonial Schools have been providing children with a quality start in education. An innovative leader located on the grounds of the
Westover
and
Berkeley Square
campuses, we incorporate intergenerational learning – children work with and learn from older adults to gain positive perceptions of aging while developing self-confidence, self-discipline, independence and intelligence.
Working with our experienced teachers, resident volunteers bring perspective and dedication to a school focused on total child wellness and educational development.
Leadership and Learning
The Colonial Schools are built on a foundation of warmth and lively learning –
experienced teachers
, an enriching education, and forward-thinking approaches are all carefully balanced to cultivate child development with understanding, compassion and excellence.
The Westover Preparatory School offers a variety of
classes and programs
that include two- and three-day preschool as well as three- and five-day pre-kindergarten programs. Additionally, the Preparatory School on the Square at Berkeley Square offers a full-day kindergarten program. All our classes have a low pupil/teacher ratio and are staffed with qualified, experienced teachers and assistants. Read through a variety of quotes and
testimonials
from volunteers, teachers, former students and parents.
Explore a Future for Your Child at the Colonial Schools

"I wouldn't be a bit surprised that I enjoy more reading to them than they do listening to me actually. I get such a terrific kick out of it."
